Duties and responsibilities of a critical care Nurse (ICU Nurse) during Corona-Covid19.


Nurses working in intensive care unit (ICU) should  assist in intubation and understand the standards of airway management. 

While assisting cardiac patients, they have to use full personal protective equipment-PPE.

It is important to ensure all necessary equipments like oxygen supply and  other

emergency medications used while transporting the patient.

 

Nurses use effective communication and coordination in pandemic management and establish two-way communications.

 

ICU nurses need to work closely with infection control, supplies/cleaning

services and other relative departments to coordinate effectively.

 

Proper and effective communication is necessary to address various problems and manage expectations of the patient.

 

Visitor/relative management is also important especially in isolation wards. 

 

Involve Public relations department  to facilitate  communication  with  family

members or media, to minimize misunderstanding and build trust in the health care system.
