ROLES/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN).
Monitor and record vital signs (Pulse,Blood Pressure,Temperature).
Monitor and recognise any untoward reaction of patient and report to RN or Physician .
Collect specimen (Blood,Sputum,Urine,etc) order laboratory tests and record results.
Provide Oxygen therapy and secretion suctions if required .
Administer medications with an understanding of indications,dosage and side effects.
Use aseptic techniques and precautions in wound care and dressings.
Provide wound care including wound drainage emptying and removing sutures .
Prepare equipments and assist the Doctors in various procedures .
Assist bathing, dressing and personal hygiene of patient .
Assist patients to use various mobility aids like walkers and crutches .
Set priorities according to the need of the unit and conditions of the patient.
Give psychological support to the patient and family.
Participate in various lpn training programs ,CMEs and seminars .
